Benefits of counselling at Grace House
The counselling process is, in many ways, like an educational experience. The individual can learn more about themselves, but also acquire new skills. Sometimes, counselling involves learning more about a particular condition by which the person is affected, so that they can better understand their feelings and develop coping strategies. Families living with a child/ children with neurodiverse medical conditions often have added pressures, stress and anxieties to cope with on a daily basis making counselling an invaluable support mechanism.
Below are some examples of where our service users have benefited from our counselling provision.
- improved communication and interpersonal skills
- greater self-acceptance and self-esteem

Feedback from recent service users.
“I can’t put into words how much the therapist has positively impacted on my mental health and my ability to cope with stress. I have developed coping mechanisms for co-dependency issues which have made my life and relationships a much better place. I wouldn’t have been able to recognise and manage this without the help and support I’ve been given.”
“The therapeutic service has been good. I have seen a noticeable and positive change in my daughter’s wellbeing and behaviour. My daughter has gained in confidence and self-esteem. My daughter has developed strategies to help with bullies, my intention was for her to be happier in life, and she is!”
