Join Grace House for our annual Pier to Pier Walk 2026, a scenic 8-mile charity walk along the beautiful North East coastline.
This popular fundraising event connects South Shields, North Shields, Sunderland, Newcastle and Durham communities, bringing people together to support disabled children, young people and their families.
Whether you’re walking from South Shields, North Shields, Sunderland, Newcastle upon Tyne, Durham Or anywhere across the North East, this is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy fresh sea air while making a real difference locally.
The walk begins at The Groyne in South Shields and follows the stunning coastline all the way to Roker Pier in Sunderland, approximately 8 miles in total.
Perfect for individuals, families, corporate teams and community groups across the North East.
Adult (18+) – £10
Child – £5 (must be accompanied by an adult)
Family (2 adults + 2 children) – £20
All participants are encouraged to raise sponsorship to help Grace House continue providing vital local support services.
Funds raised support disabled children and young people across the north east.
Your support helps fund family support, inclusive activities, youth groups, wellbeing programmes and counselling services.

Easter Treats
We have Great North Run charity places available for 2026 and are inviting runners from across the UK to run for Grace House.
By choosing Grace House as your charity, you’ll be supporting disabled children and young people across Sunderland, the North East.
The Great North Run is one of the biggest running events in the world. Every year, thousands of people take part to raise money for charity.
On Sunday 13 September 2026, Starting in Newcastle and running across the Tyne Bridge into Gateshead, the Great North Run will take you along through South Tyneside, where the finish line awaits at South Shields.
If you’re looking to Sign up for the Great North Run, Run with one of the Great North Run charities, Complete your Great North Run registration, Running for Grace House is a great way to take part while making a real difference.
Charity place cost: £60
Suggested fundraising target: around £300 (Every pound raised helps us and makes difference by running for charity, we’ll support you throughout your journey)
You don’t need to be an experienced runner. Whether it’s your first half marathon or one of many, everyone is welcome.
You can run for us wherever you’re based, including Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead, South Tyneside, Wearside, Across the North East and Anywhere in the UK
Individuals, friends, families and workplace teams are all welcome.
Funds raised through the 2026 Great North Run help Grace House continue supporting disabled children and young people through vital services, activities and support for families across the region.
