From the very beginning this event has been a celebration of what makes the North East great; thousands of supporters lining the course, hundreds of volunteers helping you along the way and runners like you, who embody dedication and determination whatever their reason for running. So come and join us on a 13.1 mile journey from Newcastle’s city centre to the coast in South Shields; all live on the BBC!

Be-ho-ho-hold, Great Run have announced the return of the Christmas #GreatRunSolo Accumulator Challenge to keep you festively fuelled this December.

Complete the 12 runs of Christmas (or more – why not?) of any distance between 1 and 25 December and earn yourself a special Christmas tree medal decoration. One of the best things about the accumulator challenge is that you can complete your 12 (or more) runs anywhere you like and at any time of day that works for you. So whether it’s an early morning jog on the beach, a lunch-time run to the shops, or a late night walk with the dog – they all count!

But wait, there’s myrrh… to keep you from going crackers the challenge also includes festive activities for you to complete as you go as well as an optional distance challenge. Depending on how far you can run during the challenge, you will be rewarded with a bespoke digital certificate to download and share:

• A round of santa-plause – 30 miles
• Holy Night! – 60 miles
• There’s Snow Stopping You – 100 miles

The weather outside it frightful, but this challenge is so delightful! There are a limited number of entries available so make sure you don’t miss out on the festive fun!

Has your child been a good boy or girl this year? Make their day by arranging a personalised letter from Santa!

Each child will receive a letter from Santa, a certificate of niceness and a special treat all the way from the North Pole and will be posted out directly to them.

If you don’t have a child why not donate a letter to one of our children? We will personalise them for you and make sure our children are not left out!

Just £5 and all funds raised go to enriching the lives of disabled children, young people and their families here at Grace House.
