Parent Carer Support Programmes in Sunderland – Grace House North East
At Grace House North East, we provide dedicated Parent Carer Programmes to support families caring for children and young people with disabilities, additional needs, autism, ADHD, and hidden disabilities across Sunderland and the North East.
Our services are designed to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, and offer practical and emotional support in a welcoming community environment.
Book Club for parent carers
We’re launching our brand new in person Book Club on Monday 2nd February, 10am–11am, and you’re invited to be part of the very first session.
Led by our wonderful volunteer Vic, this friendly little group is all about good books, good company, a warm cuppa, and plenty of laughs along the way. Whether you’re a lifelong reader or just getting back into it, you’ll be in great company.

New Sewing Projects at Grace House
We’re excited to be starting two new sewing projects at Grace House North East, for parent carers to enjoy some creative time, learn new skills and relax in a supportive space. Registration is required.

Project 1: Starts 3rd February (3 weeks – finishing 17th February)

Project 2: Starts 10th March (3 weeks – finishing 24th March)

These sessions are suitable for beginners and open to all abilities, focusing on relaxation, gentle movement, and overall wellbeing.

Calling all parent carers. come and join us for 6 weekly sessions and enjoy the confidence of singing out loud alongside like minded people.

Sessions will be facilitated by Michael McNally.

Walkie Talkies for Parent Carers 
From 23rd April until 16th July, every Thursday, from 9:30am to 11:30am (excluding half term)
Take a little time for yourself and join our relaxed Walkie Talkies walks for parent carers. Enjoy some fresh air, gentle movement, and friendly conversation with others who understand the journey.

Free Tennis for Parent Carers
Time for You!
Grace House is delighted to offer free tennis sessions for parent carers at Thompson Park this spring and summer!

Dates: 21st April – 14th July

Time: 11:00am – 12:00 noon

Location: Thompson Park Tennis Courts

Please note: sessions will not run during half-term.
Come along for a fun, relaxed tennis session, meet other parent carers and enjoy some time outdoors. No experience is needed, everyone is welcome!
The sessions will be led by tennis instructor Ashleigh, and the group will meet her at the Thompson Park tennis courts.

Spaces are limited, so booking is essential.
